HY is a Japanese rock band formed in 2000 by five high school friends in Okinawa. Their name comes from the initials of their hometown, Higashi Yakena. The group became popular by playing music on the streets. Their first album Departure (Okinawa only) sold immediately. In 2002, the group performed live with the American group Linkin Park.
